Question: How did you to decide to major in Spanish at Williams?

Meggin Thwing Eastman: I had studied Spanish in high school and traveled to Latin America, which motivated me to continue in college.

Question: What are some of your favorite memories of classes, readings, professors, or study abroad experiences?

Meggin Thwing Eastman: The professors were all great. I especially enjoyed the Don Quijote seminar.

Question: How did majoring in Spanish help prepare you for what you do now?

Meggin Thwing Eastman: It didn’t directly prepare me for what I do now. But I did go on to get a Masters in Latin American Studies at Berkeley, where I also learned some Portuguese. I periodically use both languages in my day to day work to read public reporting by companies based in Latin America that don’t release all their documents in English.
